Finalizing the adoption
Woohoo! Your foster dog has found a home. Let's make it official.
Remove your rescue dog’s collar and/or leash and set aside to return them to the rescue.
Please let us know ASAP when your foster gets adopted by emailing [email protected]. Adopters will then be asked to follow the link in an email sent to finalize payment with a credit card.
Final paperwork...The adopter can expect all the dog’s medical history and official adoption contract via email within 1 to 2 days of bringing the dog home.
Your foster dog can leave with their new family! Only if they have been altered. Please let them know they can get a 20% off “Welcome Coupon” good at any Pet Food Express by emailing [email protected].
If your dog still needs to be spayed/neutered...Our policy is to spay and neuter all dogs before they are released for adoption. However, in rare circumstances, this is not possible. If you’ve been told your rescue dog can be released before the spay-neuter, then inform the adopter that they’ll be expected to take the dog in for their procedure and technically, the adoption will not be final until they do so. We currently have vets in Oakland, San Jose, San Francisco, and Mountain View. Copper’s Dream will pay for all vaccinations due at the time of adoption as well as the spay. You can see a list of our partner vets here.
