Socialization & training
Your house isn't just a place for a dog to crash, it's also an opportunity to get used to the big wide world and pick up crowd-pleasers like the "sit" command. Thanks for helping your foster dog on their way!
Socialization
The younger your foster dog is, the more you’ll need to socialize them. You may find that your rescue pup may be confused by everyday sights and sounds because they’ve never seen them before. Slowly expose them to new people, dogs, loud noises, stairs, etc. No matter what age your foster dog is, you should socialize him to prevent aggression towards unknown objects. |
Training
Ideally, you can take 5-10 minutes each day to teach your dog basic obedience. Work on “sit,” “down,” “stay,” and “come” and teach your dog how to walk on a leash. For step-by-step instructions, visit the Training page on our website. |
